The wall-wart power supply is quite large. The rear-mounted power switch isn’t conveniently located.Picking closed or open and setting a rough budget range and then asking over in r/HeadphoneAdvice is probably the way to go. If I didn't need the mic, I would have definitely gone for the HD-6xx instead. My current daily are Sennheiser PC-37x (open back headset with mic, another Drop special) which I would describe as adequate for music, but not particularly exciting. I have a pair of Audio Technica m50x (closed back) that were my first "nice" headphones. Sennheiser HD-6xx from Drop is a very popular open back set. Its probably especially difficult in the current environment, but demoing a few sets of headphones can really help you pick one that fits the sound you're after.įirst step is usually determining if you want open back (better sound stage, but leaks sound into the room) or closed back (isolation, sometimes more bass, but can get hot on the ear). I still game, but my selections now are based more on music and being able to double purpose for work calls. Even basic earbuds are suitable for that, just plug in, set to moderate volume and check back after 30 and 60 minutes to confirm the Hel is still working properly. Turn the front dial left to make yourself quieter, right for louder.ĭo you have another headset you can borrow? You should still confirm that the Hel works properly with a fully passive headset. These record your speech and play it back to you so you can dial in your gain. You can also fine tune by using Skype or another video conferencing program with a test call feature. The click device properties and test the mic. Open the Windows Sound Settings control panel and check that your input device is set to Microphone (Schiit Hel). If you are using an antique operating system, here are the drivers: "ĭid you hook up the Hel to the supplied USB power supply in addition to the USB data connection to the PC? Hel draws too much power to run on a standard PC USB A port for power and data.Īlso check that the Hel is set to low gain mode.įor the mic: Set the gain knob to vertical 12 O'Clock position to start. Only some older Windows versions (7 and 8.1) will need drivers for Fulla 3 and Hel. Windows 10, MacOS, and Linux distros that support UAC2 won't need drivers at all. This is also the config Schiit specifies for Win10. The Windows inbox UAC2 codec works great. If you're running Win10, uninstall the Gaming Drivers. Thank you everyone who took the time to read :) After a few tries my computer reads the HEL but while gaming it ”pops” then I lose all audio and my mic doesn’t work(friends can’t hear me) this occurs every time and can’t get a solid gaming session with out complaining that my amp stop working.īefore I go and return the HEL I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue or even a solid solution? I download the “gaming files” from Schiit website, now after installing said files, my computer reads my HEL as a fulla3 so I delete all files and reinstall them again. Upon arrival I connect the HEL I can’t get clear sound through so I do a lot of unplugging replugging. So I though why not upgrade to the HEL (it has the voice volume nob so I though perfect!) In reality I did hear everything much better more clear. I bought the fulla3 cause I thought it would help me hear footsteps better. Little background I’m a pc gamer mainly FPS.
